The Margaret Rose School of Dance was founded in 1972 by Mrs Margaret MacInnes. It is based in the town of Helensburgh on the West Coast of Scotland, a few miles from Loch Lomond and close to the city of Glasgow. The group is one of the biggest and best known Scottish dances schools both locally and internationally. The group has danced all over the world, performing in Russia 7 times and France 8 times throughout its history. The Margaret Rose school of Dancing represented Scotland in the last two World Folkloriadas in Hungary and Japan, and has participated in over 30 CIOFF International Folklore festivals worldwide including, Malaysia, Indonesia, Venezuela, Ireland, Belgium, Holland, Brazil, Poland Egypt, Greece and many more. The school has also performed in Disney’s Magic Kingdom and the Epcot Centre in Florida, and represented Scotland in London’s Millennium Dome St. Andrew’s Day celebrations. In 2007 the dancers travelled to Barcelona and Sardinia to dance in their local festival. They also had an audience with his holiness Pope Benedict and danced with the city pipe band at the Coliseum. In 2008 the girls danced at the Hawaii Highland Games and also represented Scotland at n International Folklore Festival in Chambly, France.
